Profile William Stafford
I am a Professional Consultant with expertise as a GIS Specialist, Spatial Programmer, Fish and Wildlife Data Analysis, Oil & Gas and Project/Program Manager. I have vast experience working on the design and implementation of enterprise class multifaceted GIS and Forestry projects. I have extremely broad scientific/biological and information technology background and have leverage this combination to act as a bridge between clients and GIS or regular programmers to ensure that the client is getting a product that makes sense and is “doable” in the GIS/IT world.
I have developed many standalone applications over the years for creating / modifying, analysing and displaying web or hardcopy product of spatial and aspatial data. Furthermore, my experience extends beyond biology into the information technology fields of computer networks, data storage and physical hardware. I have also handled IT/GIS projects from their conceptual stages through to completion and evaluation.
As a consultant I have determined project requirements and developed conceptual models, functional models, and process models for solutions based on client needs. From these I planned the technical design and converted those models into a program solution or a set of tasks to be performed.
I have presented at numerous conferences in Canada and the United States, (2007 ESRI Conference, Paper 1, Paper 2) and have taught GIS, GIS analysis and GIS Spatial Statistics at both the university and college levels. I have also had several works published by ESRI Canada (ESRI Map Calendar, 2006, 2004, 2001, Honourable Mention) and ESRI Redlands Map Book 2006 pg33.
