ABOUT US

Our fruit farming dream began in 2002 with site preparation and plans for a small saskatoon berry u-pick operation. In 2003 we planted our first 5-acre block of saskatoon bushes. We have since expanded our operation, both in terms of fruit varieties and acres in production. In 2011 we added an on-site store for seasonal sales of home preserves and baked goods.

The expansion of our fruit farming venture began in 2004 with the purchase of the quarter of land around our home acreage. This enabled us to spread into the production of strawberries, raspberries, sour cherries, currants, rhubarb, apples and honeyberries (Haskap). A test plot of half-high blueberries was established in 2009 which, in 2011, yielded a tasty sample of things to come.

With the plants in the ground and production coming on line, we continue to explore ways to expand our farm business. Consideration is being given to the addition of a couple grow tunnels to expand both our season and our crop varieties. To increase our on-farm processing abilities, we are currently seeking funding for a commercial kitchen and a fruit winery, which will come under the umbrella of our second company: Forest Fringe Winery & Café Inc.

In addition to raising our two children, Genevieve continues to experiment with new recipes and processing in the kitchen, while Will continues to add the necessary income to the farm through GIS consulting. Our goal is to continue providing quality produce and products along with an enjoyable agro-tourism experience. We believe our expansion plans, for both the orchard and the new company, will further enhance our customers’ visit.
