Our fruit farming dream began in 2002 with site preparation and plans for a small Saskatoon berry u-pick operation. In 2003 we planted our first 5-acre block of Saskatoon bushes. We have since expanded our operation, both in terms of fruit varieties and acres in production. We have also ventured into agro-tourism with our Corn Mazes.
The expansion of our fruit farming venture began in 2004 with the purchase of the quarter of land around our home acreage. This enabled us to spread into the production of strawberries, raspberries, sour cherries, apples and honeyberries (Haskap). Plans are now in the works for additional strawberries, and a blueberry trial plot on some of our sandy soil.
With the plants in the ground and production coming on line, we now have time for some of our other passions. In addition to raising our two children, this means GIS consulting for Will, and the processing of our own produce for Genevieve, as well as quilting.
Our dream now is to continue providing quality produce and products to our customers, as well as an enjoyable agro-tourism experience, while providing ourselves with a moderate income in order to secure our children's future educational needs.
